Because The World Never Stops. Studio 5
Dir Maximilien Van Aertryck, Axel Danielson
Sweden 2016, 10 min

When we tune into a newscast, we expect a reassuring authority, but is what we see anything other than a performance? Shot behind the scenes during a live broadcast, Because the World Never Stops is a revelatory look at the hidden side of the evening news.

Livingroom / Alla bara längtar
Dir Martina Carlstedt
Sweden 2016, 29 mi

Martina Carlstedt arranges a puzzle of avowals and confessions of protagonists who have one thing in common: they are over 60. They have left beauty, success and love affairs behind. Their living rooms, tastefully furnished havens, panoramas filled with detail, are testimonies to the lives they have lived.

After Life
Dir Prisca Bouchet, Nick Mayow
New Zealand 2016, 15 min

Intimate, evocative and challenging – After Life follows the inner workings of a busy South Auckland funeral home, offering a glimpse into a place that serves a unique function in New Zealand society – one that is rich in meaning and humanity, a place where the daily work deals with our deepest fear.

Close Ties / Więzi
Dir Zofia Kowalewska
Poland 2016, 18 min

Forty five years of marriage is an impressive anniversary. Barbara and Zdzisław could be proud of themselves if not for the fact that the husband left the wife for his lover eight years ago. But now they are together again, although Barbara claims that if it were not for his infirm legs, Zdzisław would still be chasing skirts around Kraków. Despite the past resentment, everyday problems with paying bills, an occupied bathroom and rearranging furniture, they have a hard to define bond.
