Man, can you make your woman ejaculate? Woman, are the sacred waters running within you? If not, perhaps you were born in the wrong country? In Rwanda pleasuring women until ejaculation is an old tradition; one they try to keep as the country is modernized. Most of the Rwandan women can ejaculate – and not in any prissy manner, but in gushing and spraying tsunamis. According to a legend, everything started with a queen, who was so lonesome during a war, that she ordered one of her servants to pleasure her. The servant was so nervous that he shook the queen to a gushing climax.
Sacred Water is a film about female ejaculation and the discussions around it. And these discussions aren’t secret or shushed. Instead they are held amongst entire villages and in a nationwide talk radio. Rwandan sexologist Vestine Dusabe is your guide to the subject, a big sister of sorts. In her radio show Dusabe helps to solve the intimate problems of her listeners. She also visits schools around the country to lecture on sex education. And like the film reveals, even though the ancient traditions are a controversial topic in modern Rwanda, they are discussed openly and with a smile. It is a sensitive topic laden with gender stereotypes, sexual mysteries, and personal opinions and preferences. Yet the film manages to treat the topic with an irresistible humour.
